Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we hear most often. If yours isn’t here, give us a call or send a message and we’ll answer it directly.

Is Abide Home Care a medical or non-medical provider?

We provide non-medical home care only. We do not offer nursing, therapy, or other clinical services. For medical care, please consult your healthcare team. We coordinate alongside, not in place of, clinical providers.

What areas do you serve?

Our office is in Visalia, CA, and we serve the surrounding community. If you're unsure whether your address is in our area, give us a call and we'll let you know.

What services do you offer?

Personal care, companionship, respite care, dementia care, post-hospital support, and 24-hour care. The /services page has a card for each one with a link to a detailed description.

How do I get started?

Call us or send a message through the contact form. We'll set up a no-obligation conversation and walk through the next steps. The full process is laid out on the How It Works page.

Do you offer transportation assistance?

Our caregivers can provide transportation using the client's vehicle or arrange transportation through our trusted partner agencies. Transportation services are subject to certain requirements and safety policies.

What is the cost?

Every care situation is unique. Our rates are based on the specific needs of the client, the services requested, and the hours of care required. We'll provide a personalized quote during your consultation.

Do you accept insurance, VA benefits, Medicare, or Medicaid?

We currently accept private pay and long-term care insurance. We are also in the process of becoming an approved provider for VA benefits, Medicare, and Medicaid. Reach out to us, and we'll be happy to review your individual circumstances and help determine which payment and coverage options may apply.

What are your hours?

Our office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Care services are available outside those hours, including evenings, weekends, and 24-hour coverage when needed.

How are caregivers screened, trained, and matched?

Every caregiver is carefully screened through an interview process, DOJ and FBI background checks, TB testing, and registration with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). They also complete professional training before providing care.

We take the time to match caregivers with clients based on individual needs, personalities, family dynamics, and experience. Our caregivers also receive ongoing support, supervision, and continuing education to ensure they provide the highest quality care.

What if my loved one's needs change over time?

Care plans are not fixed. As needs evolve we update the plan, adjust hours, or shift the services included. Just let us know what's changing and we'll adapt.

Can I submit medical records or insurance information through this website?

No. Our public contact and careers forms are not intended for medical records, insurance documents, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive health information. For care-related discussions involving sensitive information, please call us directly. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
